There are nature trials to hike, wild Maine blueberries to pick, humming birds to admire in the flower gardens, and roaming fields to let the dog run – all on the same property. Take a casual walk along the shoreline paths where you may discover bald eagles, great blue herons, and playful seals. You can launch a canoe or kayak close by and paddle down the river’s tranquil waters, or sometimes simply unwind in one of our Adirondack chairs, letting the gentle Maine breeze sooth the soul, is the best way to enjoy the day.
The three CABINS have spectacular views of the river and are ideal for couples and travelers with pets. They are cozy, clean, and beautiful, and each includes a queen and a double bed. Each cabin is also fully equipped with a kitchenette so you can cook your own lobsters as an alternative to going out. Wi-Fi and TV are included among the amenities. Discounts available for groups and long stays.
The GARDNER HOUSE INN is a restored eighteenth century farmhouse and is the third oldest house in the Machias area. There is only one room in the Inn, so privacy is assured. In a relaxed, bed and breakfast atmosphere, enjoy access to three private areas: the Keeping Room for breakfast, the Library for relaxation, and the Guestroom for a peaceful night’s sleep with its luxurious king-sized, pillow-top bed. Wi-Fi is also available.
